Alison Taylor

Alison Taylor turned to writing in the 1990s after a career as probation officer and social worker. She has published five crime novels to great acclaim as well numerous articles and various short stories, one of which was long listed in 2012 for the prestigious Sunday Times international short story competition.


She draws on the culture and history of north Wales in her work, to bring the rich heritage of Wales to a wider audience and to show the common strands running through the lives of people everywhere.


Her work is published in Britain, Eire, the USA, Germany, Scandinavia, Japan and Australia.


Alison Taylor has won three national awards for her work in exposing institutional child abuse:

1996: the inaugural Community Care Readers Award

1996: the Campaign for Freedom of Information Award

2000: the Pride of Britain Award for Woman of Courage
